SEE AND DO.png

Our little piece of paradise is set in the secluded rolling hills of the Cornish countryside just two miles inland. Sheltered by two-hundred-year-old oak trees, our corner of Cornwall is abundant with wildlife and breath-taking views of surrounding pastures – and on clear days you can even look down the lush green valley and out onto the glistening Atlantic ocean.

Close to the coastal town of Bude – an hour’s walk down a beautiful canal for those looking to stretch their legs - this is a perfect base for a genuine Cornish experience.

SAND & SEA

Whether you want seaweed, stones, sand between your toes, rockpools, rugged cliffs or coastal walks, we’ve got it all. Bude is on the North coast of Cornwall, which means we are blessed with big tides, glassy surf and a dramatically beautiful coastline.

We’re only about 10 minutes’ drive from Bude’s major beaches such as Widemouth Bay, Sandymouth or Summerleaze – all great for surfing and ice cream. However, if you’re someone who is more into the path-less-travelled, we’ll gladly fill you in on some local knowledge and tell you about lesser-known spots you when you arrive.

EAT & DRINK

When it comes to eating and drinking out, we’re pretty spoiled for choice with a plethora of excellent independently-run businesses on our doorstop that are open year-round. Your eating options include bistro’s overlooking the beach, cafes on canal barges, fine-dining looking out to sea, quirky brunch spots, coffee shops, local seafood, burger bars, fish and chips, stone baked pizza, pub grub, vegetarian food vans and farm shop cafes. There’s also a huge amount of choice when it comes to heading for a drink too, including pubs, micro-brewery pubs, sports bars, cocktail bars and wine bars.

If you don't fancy venturing out, we offer an at-home chef service (let us know in advance if this is of interest). We also provide a small hamper of produce on arrival to get you going and if you finish it off on the first night, everything in the hamper is available to buy. And what's more, we also have our own artisan charcuterie studio here, where you can buy homemade sausage, chorizo and much more.

OUT & ABOUT

Eat Rick Stein’s fish and chips in Padstow, peer through Doc Martin’s window in Port Isaac, visit the tropics or the Mediterranean at The Eden Project, head out on a fishing boat in Clovelly after weaving down the cobbled streets, discover the mystical waterfall at St Necterns Glen, walk the historic hallways of the Lanhydrock stately home, explore Merlin’s cave, the medieval castle and The Old Post Office in Tintagel, and see the stone that King Arthur is fabled to have pulled his sword from at the Arthurian Centre.

We promise you will not be short of things to do here. These are just a few of the stunning seaside towns and exceptional days out we recommend you do around Cornwall and Devon, all very easy to get to from here.

OUT & ABOUT

OUTDOOR & ADVENTURE

The list of adventures on our doorstep is truly endless. Alongside the array of water sports on offer, such as sailing, paddle boarding, surfing, kayaking, canoeing and coasteering, Bude is home to the famous Bude Sea Pool. The sea pool is a man-made swimming pool on Summerleaze beach that fills with the changing tides - and because the water heats throughout the day in the summer sun, we can’t recommend a blissful sunset swim here enough.

If you don’t fancy getting wet, there’s plenty of walking to be done so close to the South West Coast Path, offering stunning cliff, beach and woodland walks. There are also options for cycle hire, segways, golf and mini-golf all within ten minutes of here.

SHOPS & SOUVENIRS

Bude has a wonderful selection of shops where you can pick up mementos of your time away, select some freshly baked pasties, load up on fresh seafood, select new décor for your home interior, browse antiques, try on clothes, and even purchase jewellery. We are really lucky to have such a range of beautifully-boutique and independently-run shops here that are open year-round.
